The UPPA’s only fundraiser
is the annual Spring Market. This is a fun day of shopping
and mingling with friends from the neighborhood.
Approximately 90 vendors set up at the elementary school
for a one day market which has been traditionally attended
by over 600 people. Food is also provided from local
restaurants. The Spring Market, hosted by the UPPA, is just
one of the many efforts to raise funds for the HPISD
schools. All proceeds raised from this one day market are
donated to the University Park
Elementary School.
The money we raise makes a
lasting impact on the children and school for years to
come.....supplying many essentials and some extras for UP
Elementary.
The 9th annual UPPA Spring Market will be held on
Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at UP Elementary. In 2008, this event
was attended by more than 700 shoppers and raised over
$50,000 for UP Elementary. The Spring Market features more
than 90 vendors selling clothing, household accessories,
children’s items, jewelry, and much more. In addition, hungry
shoppers may purchase lunches from local restaurants in the
Panther Café. The café also offers kids lunches for the
littlest shoppers.
This year, the 2009 UPPA Spring Market will also continue our
newest tradition started last year by partnering with the Mom’s
Night Out folks for the 2009 Spring Market Kick-Off party. Held
in late February, this year’s party should be tremendously fun
and a great way to enjoy a night out with the girls. Details
will be forthcoming in the fall!
The
30-member Gift Market committee plans and staffs all aspects of
the market including: vendor selection, solicitations and
underwriting, ticket sales, print and publicity, party planning
and decorations, café, bake sale, Panther Cub booth, frozen
casserole sale, raffle baskets and so much more. The entire
event is run by generous members of the UPPA who volunteer their
time and talents to make the event a success year after year.
Each UPPA member is asked to volunteer 3 hours of their time
